“Hills of Quartz“ | Electribe 2 Sampler Beat with Vinyl

This beat is called “Hills of Quartz“ I took the vinyl samples from a classical record and a record compilation of drum breaks sampled at 45 rpm at the fastest speed, and sped that up more in ableton with some added compression. I like to do that because it gives a grainy texture to the samples but doesn’t mess up the original sound of the sample- it’s a fast way of lower the sample rate in a way. ( I kept the Boss SP-303 handy in case there other samples I wanted- at the end of the video you’ll hear the vocal chops I sampled using the 303. I’ve found routing the signal through the 303 gives it another layer of texture which is just a nice thing while I’m making something- it’s also nice to mess with certain effects to get an idea of how you’re going to master once you get to a DAW.
