Homelessness in America: The Search for Solutions During COVID-19

On a single night in January 2019, approximately 568,000 people in the United States were homeless, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. A year later -- with months of a subsequent and ongoing coronavirus pandemic ravaging the country -- the homeless experience has become even more fraught and complex. During this event, Forum panelists examined the current state of homelessness in America. Who is impacted? Who is at risk? How has the pandemic impacted the situation? What programs and policies may help? Included in the discussion is a description of the recently established Initiative on Health and the Homelessness at the Harvard Chan School.
