Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially appoints the Social Democratic Party’s (SPD) Olaf Scholz as new German chancellor at the Bellevue presidential palace in Berlin on Wednesday, November 8. Scholz is officially stepping into the chancellor position following around two months of coalition negotiations between the SPD, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP). The coalition agreement, which was recently finalised, has already been voted on by the SPD, FDP and the Greens.
