The resistance retaliates. Can Israel now restrain itself?
At the break of morning on August 25, 2024, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon retaliated against Israel for its assassination, on July 31, of top military commander Fuad Shukr.
Later that day, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech in which he signalled that, if Israel elected to restrain itself, there would be no further retaliation for the killing of Shukr.
Shortly after Nasrallah finished speaking, Dimitri Lascaris, who is currently in Beirut, spoke with Lebanon-based, geopolitical analyst Laith Marouf about the danger of further escalation and the region’s descent into all-out war.
