Документальный мультфильм «Мать-и-мачеха» – это история еврейской эмиграции из СССР в 1960-х–1970-х гг. в текстах, написанных теми, кто стремился выехать, и теми, кого возмущало это стремление. В них – отчаяние многолетних просителей, трагедия расколотых семей, полемика о таких ключевых понятиях, как родина, народ, достоинство и норма, и едкий сарказм с обеих сторон.
