’We will never forgive’: Thousands line streets of Moscow for funeral of Alexei Navalny
Thousands of people have gathered for the funeral of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny following his death in a penal colony last month.
Navalny’s mother Lyudmila Navalnaya, who fought hard to be allowed to hold a public funeral for her son, attended the church service dressed in black, while outside mourners lined the streets chanting “Navalny“ and “Russia will be free“.
A band played the theme tune from Terminator 2, which was Navalny’s favourite film, as he was laid to rest at Moscow’s Borisovskoye Cemetery.
