Paul Kalkbrenner - The Florian Trilogy (Cloud Rider - Mothertrucker - Feed Your Head)

FLORIAN was written by Creative Directors Alexander Nowak and Felix Richter of advertising agency Droga5 New York, and directed by Bjoern Ruehmann of Furlined. FLORIAN is the first music video project that Droga5 has undertaken. “The series follows a fictional character named Florian; a young foreigner who compulsively shares the music he loves with strangers, though ends up getting rejected.” The first video, “Cloud Rider”, shows Florian being beaten mercilessly for being an outsider. The second, “Motherеrucker”, shows Florian explosively letting out his rage and anger. And the latest video, “Feed Your Head”, offers a hopeful conclusion, although the ending might be more tragic than it seems. Here’s an exclusive quote from directors, Bjoern, Felix & Alex: “By creating the Florian trilogy, we intended to step out of the box and go further than ordinary music videos do. The trilogy is a complete story and touches upon social and emotional topics. Florian is an unusual character, a young man, isolated and on the verge of being autistic, who simply wants to share and spread happiness. He doesn’t play by the rules of modern urban society because he lives in his own detached world. And despite his good intentions he keeps overstepping boundaries causing friction and rejection. At its heart this is the story about conflicting energies and colliding mind sets, which creates the dark undertone in the trilogy.
