5 Things You Should Know About Therapists

Being a therapist doesn’t mean our lives are perfect. I know I say this all of the time, but I thought it was important to mention here. Just because we know better doesn’t mean that we always do better, and if I am being honest, some people get into the mental health space for the wrong reasons. Meaning that good mental health professionals get into this career path because they want to help people and they love working with others. Bad mental health professionals get into this line of work to figure out and possibly fix their own shit. That’s not right! We should be in our own therapy, figuring our own shit out first! Or at least at the same time. Our patients’ therapy time should be for them only, not a time for us to try and figure out why we are struggling. Yes, a therapist does have a better understanding of ways to communicate effectively, or what the signs are that someone is a narcissist for example, but we still have to put in the work and use those insights. Just knowing doesn’t change anything, it’s in the doing that we improve. “Are u ok?“ A Guide To Caring Your Mental Health I’m Kati Morton, a licensed therapist making Mental Health videos! #katimorton #therapist #therapy MY BOOK Are u ok?
