AI upscaled fan edit - Read on for details While testing the Topaz upscaled and some other video enhancement techniques i went looking through old saved videos for some badly compressed low resolution footage and found this old fan made music video. At 480p 25fps and only 25MB it’s a perfect candidate. First thing was so alter the color and contrast a hair to restore the black levels then i fed it through topaz and tested all the ai models they provide. Settled on one i liked and rendered it out. The video looked amazing at 1080p i could hardly believe how much detail was restored. Wanting to take it further i ran it again but this time taking the 25fps 1080p footage and interpolate to 60fps. That means for every 1 still frame the software creates a new still frame to fill in between the originals (honestly don’t know how it handles dealing with odd numbers of frames) Running this 25 to 60 conversion on a mobile 3060 (60w tdp) with 6GB Vram took about 4 hours and just the upscaling only about 1 hour. The 25 to 60 fps conversion isn’t perfect but still far smoother then expected and there’s only a few spots in the video that really feel a bit off. After having such good success with the enhancements i decided to go ahead and replace the overly compressed audio so i dropped in the 2019 remaster. I really enjoy this track and the video, i hope you do as well!
