Franny and Zooey- Novella

Its story time! J.D Salinger, 1961. Two connected stories, originally and individually published in The New Yorker in 1955 and 1957. Siblings Franny and Zooey Glass are the youngest members of the Glass family. They remain forever scarred years after the suicide of their eldest brother Seymour. (Franny) is the short story of Franny Glass, a theater actress intellectual and younger sister of Zooey Glass. It focuses on her weekend visit to the college town where she is to see her collegiate boyfriend, Lane Coutell. Fed up with conformity, she tells Lane of her fascination on the subject of spirituality, buddhism and her obsession with two books she is attached to on these topics. However, her existential breakdown worsens before returning home to her family, which consist of Zooey and her mother Bessie. Both Franny and Zooey, as well as Buddy (one of the Glass family members) and Seymour, were child panelists for the radio quiz program, Its A Wise Child, making them witty and smart.
