The line-up consisted of vocalist Til Lindmann (ex-First Arsch), vocalist Paul Nanders and keyboardist Flake Lorenz (both ex-Feeling B.), guitarist Richard Kruspe (ex-Orgasm Death Gimmick), bassist Oliver Riedel (ex-Inchtabokatables) and drummer Christoph Schneider (ex-Firma). A year later, the band signed a contract with Motor Music to release their first album, which was recorded in Sweden with producer Jakob Helner (Clawfinger). At the end of August of the same year Rammstein’s first single “Du Riechst So Gut“ was released, and the debut CD “Herzeleid“ came out exactly a month later, on September 25th, 1995. A number of tours with Project Pitchfork, Clawfinger, The Ramones followed, as well as two headline tours of their own. In November 1996 the second album, “Sehnsuht“, recorded at Temple Studios in Malta together with the same Helner, was released. The album got the highest critics’ acclaim, and “Rammstein“ name became known almost all over the world. Impressive sales figures of “Sehnsuht“, that burst from the spot, i.e. on the highest step of the national hit parade, were intensified with the appearance of their calling card - “Du Hast“. Whereas “Herzeleid“ returned to Top 10 for the fifth time, capturing the leadership among rock bestsellers. Nowadays Rammstein are one of the most successful and promising bands in Germany, proving it by their numerous tours around the world, and participation in different projects (Depeche Mode tribute album, soundtrack for David Lynch movie “Lost Highway“).
