Every time when there is something coming out. People get excited. Last one we have the 16mm f/1.8 wide angle lens for Sony. A super wide angle lens with large aperture. And there is a little top display on it. Something that I don’t even get to see from Sony. And this time, we have the 27mm f/1.2 Pro lens from Viltrox. 27mm is a very interesting focal length, It’s not wide and it’s definitely not tight. It is around 40mm. Some old style shooters might not like it. As they always stick with 24mm, 35mm or 50mm. Even myself I didn’t like it at the beginning. But after I bought the Ricoh GRIIIx. I was fall in love with that focal length. In this test, I used my X-T4 for the test. Usually I like to use the latest cameras. But since I’m not a Fujifilm shooter anymore. The only two cameras I have are the X-T4 and the X-Pro 3. The X-Pro 3 wasn’t designed for video anyway. So I used the X-T4 instead. At least I got 4K 60p and 10Bit color. But during my test, I’m glad I used my X-T4. As the lowlight performance was better than the X-H2 that I used last time. But ofcoz the X-H2 has a better specs such as the ProRes recording and the 8K video. I reckon the 27mm f/1.2 PRO lens works the best with the Fuji cameras as the Fuji cameras aren’t that great in lowlight. And when you pare with the X-T4. You get even better lowlight performance. As the X-H2 uses the high 40 megapixels. The lowlight isn’t as good as the X-T4. The only downside with the X-T4 is, the video AF isn’t as good as the latest Fujifilm cameras. The video AF is a lot sticker on XS-20. Mind you, if you want to shoot mainly 4K 60P. The X-T4, X-T5 and XS-20 do have a crop when shooting 4K 60p. Meaning the 27mm will become close to 50mm. Overall I think this is probably the best Viltrox lens I have ever used. Shooting wide open at f/1.2 is just crazy sharp. I did not have to stop it down just to be sure I get a sharp image. I was very enjoy using this lens. Hopefully we get to see more f/1.2 lenses from Viltrox.
