Georgescu: Constitutional Court’s decision to annul vote count results is a coup
According to Romania’s independent candidate Calin Georgescu, the country’s judicial system has lost its independence and is subject to political orders.
“I’m sure they’re desperate. Because they see that their positions are under threat. Despair reached its climax with this decision,” Georgescu said. He added that no one can stop him and the Romanian people.
“The free expression of the vote was undermined by the fact that voters were misinformed as a result of an election campaign in which one of the candidates was aggressively promoted in circumvention of national law in the field of elections and the abuse of algorithms of social media platforms. This affected the transparent and fair nature of the election campaign, and the legal provisions regarding its financing were ignored,” the court statement said.
