In 2005, Paul McCartney and BBC performed and recorded an intimate show at the infamous Abbey Road studios to promote Paul’s new album “Chaos and Creation in the Backyard“. Paul engages and entertains the audience by playing and demonstrating some of the instruments and electronics from the 1960’s that the Beatles and other bands experimented with and used to innovate their music. Of course, Paul includes some interesting stories and facts about those times and the other Beatles.
Towards the end of the show, Paul shows off the studio collection of instruments. He plays a short version of “Heartbreak Hotel“ using the double “upright“ bass owned by Elvis Presley’s bass player, then he demonstrates the Beatles’ mellotron.
