Spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen the movie. The ending of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial“ is a poignant and emotional moment that wraps up the heartwarming story of friendship and love between Elliott and the extraterrestrial visitor, E.T. As the film nears its conclusion, E.T. becomes seriously ill and weak due to being separated from his own kind and his home planet for an extended period. The government agents, who have been pursuing E.T. throughout the film, finally locate him and Elliott. They set up a quarantine zone around the house and prepare to capture the alien. Elliott realizes that E.T. is dying and feels an intense emotional connection with him. He decides to help E.T. “phone home“ by bringing him to a secluded spot in the nearby woods, where the spaceship will come to retrieve him. With the help of his older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton) and his friends, Elliott loads E.T. onto his bicycle and begins a desperate race against time.
