Two volcanoes erupt at once on different continents, Etna in Italy and Popocatépetl in Mexico. Flights were suspended at Sicily’s Catania airport on Sunday after Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano, showered the city with a thick coating of ash. Heavy clouds around the volcano’s summit have impaired visibility, hiding ash discharges into the atmosphere. Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano, has started erupting, spewing ash on Catania, eastern Sicily’s largest city, and forcing a suspension of flights at that city’s airport. The Popocatépetl volcano, between Mexico City and the Mexican town of Puebla, has registered an increase in its activity this Sunday and an expulsion of a large amount of ash, which has led the authorities to decree the third phase of the yellow alert level
