China Unveils 3000x More Powerful Fully Analog Optoelectronic Intelligent Computing Chip!

On November 4th, Tsinghua University researchers announced a major breakthrough in chip technology. After extensive joint research, they have developed a revolutionary computing framework called ACCEL, which combines optics and electronics. ACCEL is the world’s first all-analog photonic-electronic intelligent computing chip. Experimental tests have demonstrated that ACCEL outperforms current high-performance commercial chips by over 3,000 times in intelligent visual object recognition tasks. This achievement opens up new possibilities for the development of ultra-high-performance chips. The research team overcame three international challenges within a single chip: large-scale integration of computing units, efficient nonlinearity, and high-speed optoelectronic interfaces. By combining optical and analog electronic computing, they achieved high computational efficiency and speed. Extensive measurements and verification were conducted to ensure the reliability of the experimental data. The team utilized cross-layer collaborative technologies and evaluated energy efficiency and latency data using equivalent computing power. ACCEL offers three major advantages. Firstly, it provides ultra-high performance, surpassing existing high-performance chips by a factor of 3,000. Secondly, it boasts ultra-low power consumption, with a system-level energy efficiency improvement of 4 million times compared to current GPU and TPU architectures. Lastly, ACCEL is positioned as one of the most energy-efficient chips globally, with a power usage that can sustain it for over 500 years compared to existing chips lasting only an hour. This breakthrough represents a new direction for the global chip industry. “China Focus“ is a YouTube channel created to provide current events and pop culture headlines from you can get to know a more real China through my video. | #ChineseNews #chips #ChinaFocus Thanks for your watching and subscribing.
