Cyclist vs Antelope

A South African mountain biker’s collision with an antelope during a race in a KwaZulu Natal national park has become an Internet sensation. Race organiser Max Cluer said on Wednesday that 16-year-old Evan van der Spuy was competing in the weekend race in the Albert Falls Dam and Game Reserve when a hartebeest, an antelope that can weigh up to 350 pounds (160 kilograms), crashed into him. Video by a fellow rider, punctuated by an off-camera exclamation of “holy cow!“ - was posted on YouTube Monday and had been viewed more than five (m) million times by Wednesday. Cluer said van der Spuy was not badly hurt and the hartebeest returned to his herd to graze. Van der Spuy told Johannesburg’s Beeld newspaper he remembers little, but his broken helmet proves he had the wild encounter.
