Everything you are hearing is three layers of audio: the song, “Quark,“ my guitar’s digital signal tone from Line 6 PodFarm, and a mic signal from the camera (this picks up my strumming and distortion tone that I used for reference while recording the track). This was done in two takes, once from 0:00 to 3:34, and a second time from 3:34 to 5:00.
My playing is a little messy, but truthfully I haven’t played this song in a while, and I made this to experiment with the Color tools in Adobe After Effects. I was not playing to a metronome, just the track itself. Yes, my low A string goes out of tune at the end, but “whaddaya gonna do?“ This song was originally released in October 2011, and has gone through a lot of changes since then. The version you are hearing now is from the album “The Return of Inertia,“ now available worldwide.
