Blind Soldier Awarded Presidential Medal of Excellence

Ori Salmon, one among 120 exemplary soldiers & commanders to receive this year’s Presidential Medal of Excellence, is a young woman who surmounted all odds in her quest to serve in the IDF—including blindness. Hundreds of youths with physical and mental disabilities are successfully integrated into the IDF’s Special in Uniform project, a groundbreaking initiative of the IDF, Lend-a-Hand to a Special Child, and JNF-USA that integrates youth with physical disabilities into the IDF and facilitates their acclimation into general society.
