140 years ago, on March 1 (Old Style) 1881, as a result of a terrorist act, the Russian Emperor Alexander II, who went down in history under the famous name Tsar-Liberator, died. A unique monument to Alexander II in St. Petersburg is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ (Savior on Spilled Blood), built on the site of the attempted assassination of the emperor.
