Morihiro Saito Sensei 9th Dan Demonstrating Atemi Waza Opportunities In Aikido

Atemi Waza can sometimes be forgotten about during our Aikido training. However proper use of atemi is in 99% of all Aikido. The founder of Aikido Morihei Ueshiba said Atemi is 70% in a real fight & 30% percent throwing. Atemi Awase is not necessarily a knockout blow it can be a distraction blow or a way of unbalancing the attacker, it can also be used to create a reaction from the attacker. All these applications are used in order to create a throw or apply a lock at a vital moment of opportunity. The film is brought to you by the West Midlands Aikido Association who follow the training and techniques of the founder of Aikido as taught by Morihiro Saito Sensei 9th Dan. Classes are held at our headquarters dojo at Unit 23A, Toll Point Estate, Lichfield Rd, Brownhills, Walsall WS8 6JP or email info@ Further videos can be found on our You Tube channel
