Green Onions Organ Tutorial

A quick lesson running over the main part of the Booker T & The MG’s organ hit, Green Onions. The Song is a Minor 12 bar blues using the chords Fm Bbm and C but as you will see from the video, the riff is made of of a set of various triads and intervals. When soloing, it is easier to think of the tune as these three chords rather than the set of triads that the melody implies. For solo ideas, use the F blues scale, throw in the 9ths too, but less is more on this one! I mention that the C is a C minor through the video, as the bassline implies a C minor sound, but it is really playing a C#9 Drawbar settings I used: lower 8887000 upper 88883024 Leslie set to stop, no perc or chorus, added a splash of spring reverb in the DAW.
