Gilbert Galvan : The Flying Bandit - the fifth estate

Gilbert Galvan lead a double life. He claimed he was a securities analyst from Pembroke, Ontario but in fact he was a gifted thief who flew first class from city to city robbing banks, earning the nickname the ’Flying Bandit’. Over a three year period Galvan robbed over 50 banks in almost every province and was only caught in 1987 when he branched out into jewelry theft. In our 1991 piece Victor Malarek profiles Galvan and speaks with the man police called the best bank robber they had ever seen.
