England’s World Cup qualification hopes are dealt a shattering blow as they lose 2-0 away to Holland in October 1993. In what is effectively a winner takes all clash, Graham Taylor is left furious with the referee over his failure to send off Ronald Koeman for hauling down a goalbound David Platt - Koeman going on to put the Dutch ahead before Dennis Bergkamp settles it.
