South Korea KF-21 Fighter Jet Ready to Fly

A prototype of South Korea’s KF-21 next-generation fighter was recently filmed conducting powered ground tests as it gets ready for its first flight. These tests come after the twin-engine fighter’s most recent static engine runs; the aircraft’s first flight is said to be scheduled for this month’s end. Videos shot outside the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) assembly site in Sacheon, which are undated but appear to be recent, show the first prototype KF-21, known as Boramae and denoted by the Korean word for “hawk,“ taxiing across a temporarily closed road. The Sacheon Airport, which serves the city of Jinju in the southeast of the nation, is where the KAI facility is located. According to reports, the plane was flying north from the KAI plant to the main runway of the airport. Once there, the test pilot opened the throttles of the General Electric F414-GE-400K engines that were supplied by the United States, and the aircraft made a brief run at high speed before slowing down.
