Schnittke: Works for Violin and Piano – Listen here: The violinist Daniel Hope pays tribute to the Russian composer Alfred Schnittke with his new album “Schnittke: Works for Violin and Piano” which includes the Tango from the film “Agony”. The Guardian calls Alfred Schnittke “one of the twentieth century’s most original and fascinating composers”, and Daniel Hope himself has long been fascinated by Schnittke’s music - ever since he met Schnittke when he was only 15 years old and an aspiring young musician. In this video Daniel Hope plays the famous Tango in an arrangement for accordion, by and with the accordionist Aydar Gaynullin. The video was recorded in 2020 at Daniel Hope’s own home in Berlin as part of the TV Series Hope@Home, transforming his living room into a high-tech musical TV studio bringing music to people’s homes during the pandemic.
