Did you know Treasure Planet contains a scene based on animator Glen Keane’s real-life experiences? When Silver tells Hawkins that he has the makings of greatness, Keane animated the scene based on an actual conversation he had with a high school football coach. Like Hawkins, Keane had suffered a major setback and was full of self-doubt. He wanted the audience to see that Silver truly cared, just like his amazing coach, so he drew from that memory when animating the scene.
