“Never Ending Dorries“ - Marsh Family parody of “Neverending Story“ by Limahl about Nadine Dorries

Last week we made and shared a dodgy holiday 🎶 acapella version of an 80s film title tune on Twitter, and it went a bit viral, garnering over a million views. We weren’t initially going to post it here on YouTube, because it wasn’t properly recorded and we didn’t have the usual time / equipment / wifi / info to thank Patreons. Plus, even by our standards, it’s about a rather obscure topic in the UK news. But several people have now asked us to upload it so that there’s at least a record and for those not on other platforms. So here’s “Never Ending Dorries“ which is about the farce of Nadine Dorries’s resignation as an MP. She was the Culture Secretary under Boris Johnson, and when he was forced out of Parliament in disgrace earlier this year, she expected to be nominated for a peerage to the House of Lords. While other dubious figures were given titles in his resignation “honours“ list, Dorries was not, and claimed hers was blocked. Though she spectacularly resigned “with immediate effect“ she has actually not formally ended her term, meaning she is continuing to draw a salary upwards of £80,000 and employ her family - without actually setting foot in the House of Commons, or representing or responding to her constituents in Mid-Bedfordshire. In the meantime, she has taken up numerous other media engagements - having always had an eye for publicity, since dropping out of Parliament several years ago to feature in the reality TV show “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.“ Details here for those interested: We figured this was fair game for a parody pop-shot - since our taxes pay for her idling - and we chose one of the childhood films that still scars us all (through the death of Artax in the swamp), “The Neverending Story.“ The original title track was written by Keith Forsey and Giorgio de Moroder and came out in 1984 with vocals by Limahl and Beth Andersen.
