The song is an on-spot improvisation by two masters of ancient musical instruments, Theodore Koumartzis on a LUTHIEROS lyre and Yannis Pantazis on a double syrinx. In Greek mythology, Marsyas was a satyr who found the cursed aulos of the goddess Athena, and therefore he was cursed too. According to the myth, he participated in a music battle with Apollo, the god of music, in which Marsyas masterfully played his flute, putting everyone into a frenzy, and they started dancing wildly. In his turn, Apollo played his lyre so beautifully that everyone remained still and had tears in their eyes.
