Item title reads: “ In the holy Ganges river. Tens of thousands gather for ancient rites in honour of their great god “Shiva“.“ Sonepore, India M/S of crowds thronging the streets where a train of elephants march along , some with riders, some with basket chairs. The elephants are lined up at rest, unburdened and their riders squat in a campsite nearby. M/S again of the crowded streets, with low buildings seen at each side. Lines of bunting flags decorate the side of the street and some people make their way along, a few carrying baskets on their heads.
