A MOMENT AGO, The Angels, (Caprice #107) 1961 Flipside: TIL – Here is another really great ballad from my music collection. The Angels (The Jersey Girls) formed in 1961 and hailed from Orange, New Jersey. They were sisters Barbara and Phyllis (“Jiggs“) Allbut and Linda Jansen. Linda Jansen sang lead on this upload of “A MOMENT AGO/TIL” and “CRY BABY CRY”, (Caprice # 112), 1962 (their ‘earlier’ recordings). In 1962 Linda Jansen left for a solo career. Peggy Santiglia joined the group as their new lead singer. That gave them a little different sound. The Angels had 6 songs charted nationally on Billboard. Their biggest, “MY BOYFRIEND’S BACK”, charted in September, 1963 for 14 weeks and reached #1. It stayed #1 for 3 weeks! It was a monster hit for them. In 1963 I was 19 years old and was already well known for my record collection.
