ROB GEE “I AM ALIVE“ (Official Music Video)

We all have those days with our backs against the wall. Struggling so hard, some days you will fall. That’s when you grab your power from inside, And tell the whole world, I AM ALIVE. I started writing this song on June 4th 2019 not knowing the state of the world we would be in today. I remember this day specifically because I was at a crossroad with my future. I did a lot of thinking that day then these lyrics just popped into my head as I was reflecting on my life; the melody quickly followed. I had this awesome guitar riff in my head. So I called up my brother and dear friend Sudeip to help me lay it down because I’m not the best guitar player, but he is. I then layed down the first set of vocals at my studio in New Jersey. Then, as always, it was time for me to go on tour again with my non-stop schedule globetrotting around our beautiful world. How am I going to put this song together on tour? Well, luckily I have some awesome friends on the road. So, I flew to The Netherlands and moved into my Aalsmeer home compliments of my brother Erwin van der Terp of Hardcore It Is. Then I called up my homey and brother, La Ravage (Yeah Buddy!!!) to use his studio in Zoetermeer to lay down the initial arrangement with the vocals and guitar I already recorded along with some GEE Kicks and sounds. It was feeling like something special. However, I felt I needed some more vocals. I called up mio fratello Chem D to record them in his studio. He was also very gracious to lend me his lab to further my arrangement. I brought this session back home and continued to work on it in my studio, but then of course BOOM, I’m back on tour again. I was really getting close, I was eager to put the finishing touches on this special song that meant and means so much to me. Well, I found myself in Zaandam with my brother . He supplied me his studio and I was able to complete I AM ALIVE. All my songs mean A LOT to me, but this one hit me hard the very first day I wrote these lyrics and sang them. I knew I had to make a video to visualize my feelings, emotion and passion. So it began. You’ll see footage from France during Dr. Peacock’s “Acid Bomb” Tour at the Warehouse in Nantes and from So W’Happy Festival Rongy in Belgium all shot by Krist Ailes. You will also see footage from my beloved Number One Hardcore in Italy shot by my life long friend, DJ Bass-D. Wait there’s more. Luckily my brother and homey Mike Ortiz was on hand for The Belasco in LA to capture me on stage at Basscon presents Sanctuary as well. I have to give a big shout out to my brothers Fabian Bakker and Partyraiser for letting me shoot at BKJN vs. Partyraiser earlier this year where I first played I AM ALIVE. When my bestie and “Executive Assistant”, Amy Melissa and my dear friend Alennah van Wijk were filming me that night; little did I know this would be my last international show for a long time due to Covid-19. The main story in this video was shot in NYC by one of my best friends, Joe Seconi who also edited this masterpiece together. We shot this in NYC not knowing 1 week later our great city would be shutdown due to Covid-19. We had no idea what was about to happen in our world. It was one of the coldest days in New York. There I was in the middle of Times Square not even thinking of a future with social distancing and wearing a mask. There were people all around me just like any other New York night. I road the subway and walked the streets of Manhattan surrounded by others who had no clue of the lives we would be living today. It really makes you think and appreciate life. The cherry on top was provided by my brother Sean Fitzpatrick for letting us shoot on his rooftop in the middle of NYC. Now, here we are in the middle of this pandemic; our lives changed forever. When I wrote this song in 2019 it meant something to me, but now in 2020 it means so much more. We will get through this. Let’s all hang on, be strong and believe. Look up to the sky and feel it.
