France acknowledges massacre of soldiers in Senegal in 1944 – Senegalese president

After 80 years, France has recognized its colonial massacre of Senegalese soldiers in Thiaroye, according to Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. It is estimated that up hundreds of soldiers were killed in the brutal incident. The massacre was France’s response to soldiers’ protests over the lack of demobilization benefit payments.
