You can set it, and forget it. The 902 will adapter to different audio levels and still de-ess your tracks. There are additions in the software that the hardware does not have. You can use the LISTEN section to monitor the filtered signal and the De-Essed signal to help you dial in the proper frequency setting. The Mix knob lets you pass through some of the un-affected audio with the De-essed signal for a more natural sound. The Air knob can restore some brightness that may be lost when you de-ess.
