The Mauser Karabiner 98k (“carbine“) was the primary service rifle of the German Army in World War II. It is a bolt-action rifle designed by german gun manufacturer Mauser chambered for the rimless ×57mm cartridge, also known as 8×57 IS. It was adopted in June 1935 as the standard service rifle by the German Army.
