Jacks ’the Dasant’ (1922)

Titles read: ’Jacks ’The Dasant’ - Sailors from Brazilian, American, French and Japanese Battleships enjoy hospitality of “the Lower Deck“ on HMS Hood.’ (Title refers to the French for ’tea dance’!) Location is probably off the coast of Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Sailors enter; salute & shake hands w/ British officer. Cut to shot of the dance party in full swing. There are a few women dancing; but for the most part the sailors dance with each other - the men are not exactly dancing cheek to cheek but they come pretty close. They’re quite accomplished dancers; and don’t seem to be both trying to lead; so it seems they must do this sort of thing often. Really cute and funny what with current focus on gays in the military. Note: one pair of officers are really tripping the light fantastic, with some nice little twirls in their dancing! SL. Homoeroticism; rest & recreation; social dance.
