Filipa Samarra is a researcher at the University of Iceland and the founder of the Icelandic Orca Project (IOP). IOP started in 2008 during Filipa’s doctoral studies at the University of St Andrews and is now the longest-running research programme dedicated to monitoring orcas in Iceland. Filipa has been an orca researcher since 2004, focusing on the acoustic communication and behavioral ecology of orcas in the Northeast Atlantic.
