235 people arrested as Victoria Police clash with anti-lockdown protesters

There have been 235 people arrested with 10 police officers injured after anti-lockdown protests turned violent in Melbourne on Saturday. Victoria Police confirmed 193 demonstrators were arrested for breaching the chief health officer’s directions with the remainder apprehended for a range of offences including assault, riotous behaviour, as well as weapons and drug-related misdemeanours. “What we saw today was a group of protesters who came together not to protest freedoms, but simply to take on and have a fight with police,” Commissioner Mark Galliottis said.
