Bird strike caught on camera - pilot aborts take-off

On August 29, 2018 we were aboard Philippine Airlines Flight 2814 bound for Manila. About half way down the runway there was a load bang at (see ), and then suddenly the pilot hit the brakes very hard. The plane stopped with about one third of the runway remaining. During the emergency stop there was a very strong smell of rubber in the cabin. Fire engines came out to meet us, but weren’t needed. As the plane taxied back to the terminal the pilot announced that there had been a possible bird strike.
