Nanashi Mumei - A New Start (Prog Metal Remix / Re-Arrangement)

Seeking still that out-of-reach Great Beyond!... I remember hearing a demo of this back in Mumei’s debut stream, so it’s great to hear the full version now. I really liked the folk elements of the song, so initially I wanted to emulate a kind of folk-metal feel for the remix. (Yes, that’s a real subgenre, go listen to the band Tyr.) That was the plan... until I got into Dream Theater. I’ve dabbled into progressive metal before, but that was mostly with bands like Tool and Opeth. Dream Theater is in a completely different league. I wanted to write something in the style of their crazy instrumentation, but I had no idea that it’d mean this would be my longest remix yet. I never thought Hinotori would be dethroned in that regard. In true prog rock fashion, this song is divided into distinct separate movements.
