Something For The Youngsters - The Super Hiker (1932)

Introductory intertitle reads: “Every boy today loves a ’hike’, but great are the arguments about suitable kit. John Carbeth Wells, who at the age of 21 has hiked across Britain, China, Africa, Japan, Malaya and . shows the youngsters his version of the right hiking kit....“ L/S of a horse drawn carriage moving towards the camera along a country lane. The carriage passes a hiker - he waves his stick at the passengers. The hiker arrives in a field where a group of young boys (possibly boy scouts) sit around in a circle waiting to meet him. He takes off his knapsack to show the boys what he carries with him on his trips around the world. He pulls out a government blanket, a little cook pot, tin plate, frying pan, billy can, paraffin stove, a woolly balaclava helmet and woolly scarf (he puts these on to demonstrate), electric searchlight lamp and last but not least a gramophone!
