David + Romany Gilmour - Between Two Points (Life Blood Mix) - A Myleslandia Sound + Vision Mix!

David Romany Gilmour - Between Two Points (Life Blood Mix) - A Myleslandia Sound Vision Mix by Myles Matisse! “I’ve been into everything David Gilmour’s created through music and guitar since the first day I discovered him in the late 70s. Pink Floyd, solo, guest of it. He’s nothing short of an international musical treasure. So, when I discovered he had made a new album and was going out on tour at 78 years of age, I was astounded, surprised as well as happy for him, his family, band and fans. On September 6th, 2024, I watched David Gilmour’s “Luck and Strange“ Tour Rehearsal on Youtube for his upcoming tour. The opening song was, “Between Two Points“ and I was taken on an emotional journey for 5 minutes. It was the first time I had fully listened to David’s daughter Romany’s voice. The combination of her delivery, the lyrics and the music caused me to tear up. Just an amazing performance by everyone. Romany’s pitch and vocal changes were captivating and fit the song like a glove. Seeing David playing and singing wonderfully at this moment in his long career as well as seeing his daughter carrying the family musical torch so to speak wasn’t lost on me. After watching the tight rehearsal, I went and found the music video for “Between Two Points“ which is the 2nd single from the new album. Listening to the studio version, I realized Romany’s vocals on the live rehearsal version were even better in how she phrased her delivery. Also, in the studio and live version, I thought the song ended too prematurely after David’s solo. I wanted the song to go back to Romany and have her end the song with an ending chorus, so motivation struck me and I created my “Myleslandia Sound Vision Mix“. I wanted to blend the studio and live version as well as the music video and live rehearsal performance. I didn’t want to use the black and white motif of the music video, so I made it sepia. I also took the live performance and made it sepia as well so that the video mix between the two would blend seamlessly. Then, I took the studio version, stripped it of Romany’s voice and had the entire song open my “Life Blood Mix“ because I wanted a long instrumental opening due to the song being so exquisite, romantic, melancholic and emotional. For the vocal part of my audio mix, I used the live version because it was even better than the studio version. I laid the music video and live performance visuals over the audio, editing it all to fit beautifully. David’s guitar solo from both the studio and live versions are in my mix along with the corresponding footage because it’s David and his solos are always so beautiful. After the 2nd and final solo of my mix, I brought back in Romany to end it, using the studio version along with the video. It worked perfectly and I realized my intuition to have her finish out the song was right on. I hope you enjoy my “Life Blood Mix“ of “Between Two Points“. From a Sound Vision standpoint, it ranks up there with the best I’ve ever created. David and his daughter Romany and the Gilmour legacy deserve it. Enjoy!“ - Myles The original version of “Between Two Points“ is on David Gilmour’s 2024 album, “Luck and Strange“. Original music video filmed by Gavin Elder. The live band: David Gilmour - Guitar and lead vocals, Romany Gilmour on harp and vocals, Guy Pratt on bass, Greg Phillinganes Rob Gentry on keyboards, Adam Betts on drums, Ben Worsley on guitar, Louise Marshall with Hattie and Charley Webb on backing vocals. BETWEEN TWO POINTS Lyrics: Broke an early promise Put trust in an unknown Fell headlong into the arms Of the first that stirred me Unsteadied a steady heart And took me to a place I’ve never been A place I’ve never been since Stopped hoping at an early age Stopped guessing at an early age Start accepting things from day one And then things can’t go too wrong Just let them walk all over you Laugh through the punches and the pain Let the life-blood drain away from you They’re right, you’re wrong And you can see it in the way they look at you Feel it in the way they treat you Always the last to know Always the first to leave And when the sky begins to fall The blame, all along in you is yours Wakes you with a fever at five Your guardian angel gives up the ghost And you can see it in the way they look at you Feel it in the way they treat you Always the last to know Always the first to leave Just let them walk all over you (they’re right, you’re wrong) Laugh through the punches and the pain (they’re right, you’re wrong) Let the life-blood drain away from you (they’re right, you’re wrong) They’re right, you’re wrong
