Czech President Calls For Security Services To Monitor Russians In West

Czech President Petr Pavel says the only way to achieve stability in eastern Europe is to have “Ukraine on board both in NATO and the EU.“ Speaking with RFE/RL’s Natalie Sedletska in June 14 on Prague, he also said “all Russians living in Western countries should be monitored“ by security services. Pavel’s spokeswoman told RFE/RL the president referred not to each individual but “those presenting risk factors.“ She added that the president did not mean “internment or any type of persecution,“ she said.
