Wuhan Flood, Whole Gale, Hail, & Sudden Darkness | Extreme Weather in China

On May 10th, starting at 2pm, Wuhan suddenly turned as dark as night, followed by torrential rain, accompanied by hail and level 10 winds. As seen from photos and videos posted by locals, there was standing water in many parts of Wuhan, trees were blown down and the roof of the Wuhan Station waiting hall had severe leaks. Local netizens have expressed their fear caused by the sudden rainstorm. In the face of strong convective weather in many parts of Hubei province, Hubei’s meteorological department issued more than 100 hail, heavy rain, wind, and lightning warnings on May 10th. Wuhan Central Meteorological Station issued an emergency yellow warning signal for high winds, which is expected in the next 3 hours. Wuhan City, Hannan, Caidian, Jiangxia, Dongxihu districts will experience level 8-10 thunderstorms, winds accompanied by light hail, with rainfall of 30 to 50 mm.
