Teej is a festival celebrated mostly in North India. It is usually observed by women for wellness of their husband.
Literally, “teej“ means “third“. Therefore Teej falls on the third day after the moonless night (amabasya) and the third day after the full moon night of every month. However, the third day after the new moon or Amavasya of the month of Shraavana July-August is the most important Teej and it is called Hariyali Teej or green Teej (Green third day).
