The episode details the USS Pargo’s seventh war patrol, when the submarine is assigned to land Australian commandos on one of the Paracel Islands. This episode was directed by Jean Yarbrough, written by Tony Barrett, and is hosted by Rear Admiral Thomas M. Dykers. The rest of the cast includes Michael Pate,Charles Davis,Paul Bayer, Ross Ford, John Pickard, Barney Phillips, Sandy Kenyon, Rollin Moriyama, Joe Perry, and Joan Elan. Captain of the USS Pargo, Commander David Bell, also makes an appearance. (Note: Bell was awarded the Navy Cross for actions on Pargo’s 8th war patrol. He retired as a rear admiral in 1970.) USS Pargo (SS-264) was a Gato-class submarine. Pargo received eight battle stars for World War II service. All eight of her war patrols were designated as “successful“. She is credited with having sunk a total of 27,983 tons of enemy shipping.. Motion picture films don’t last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
