How to draw a realistic cat with pencil | Graphite pencil art

A video of how to draw a realistic graphite pencil drawing of a cat. After drawing the basic outline, I needed to use an indenting tool (embossing tool/ embossing stylus) to indent or emboss grooves along where the whiskers are to go in order to draw the cat’s whiskers. Then I filled in the background using graphite powder; you can use sandpaper or even a blade of a cutter knife to grind down a pencil lead to get some graphite powder. Alternatively, you could just buy a jar of graphite and use that. I find that the best way to get smooth application of graphite powder is to apply the graphite using cotton wool. I used a cotton wool pad that is normally used for applying makeup. To get a darker background (darker value), I also added extra graphite to the background using a Faber Castell 8B pencil, and then smoothed it over using the cotton wool pad.
