Tornado touches down in New Orleans - power out, tree damage

Possible tornado runs through New Orleans, knocking out power & causing damage from Uptown to Algiers Point. A brief but strong set of storms that set off two tornado warnings in the New Orleans metro area, and undoubtedly woke several people with emergency alerts, has knocked out power to almost 7,000 customers in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and other parts of the metro area. At the peak, there were close to 15,000 customers without power in the metro area, but that total was cut by more than half just before 5 a.m.
