National Anthem: Austria-Hungary (Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze)

“Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze“, sometimes known as Kaiserhymne (Emperor’s hymn) was the national anthem of the dual monarchy of Austria and Hungary. The melody was composed by Joseph Haydn in 1797, having the same melody as the German anthem Das Lied der Deutschen. It was originally known as “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser“, as the personal anthem to Francis II. The lyrics in this anthem were adopted in 1854, and this continued after the Ausgleich of 1867 which transformed the Austrian Empire into a dual monarchy with Hungary. It was used until the dissolution of the empire in 1918, but it is still used by the Habsburg royal family on some occasions, such as the funeral of Otto von Habsburg. ℹ️ For any copyright-related issues (except Content ID - those are automatic), please reach out to this channel first before filing a claim to YouTube.
